A.  Industrial Training at KSEB Ltd

Industrial Training & Project work as part of the curriculum is being permitted to the students at KSEBL from various Educational Institutions subject to some conditions.

The Chief Engineer - HRM is the sanctioning authority for imparting Project/Industrial training in KSEBL and the permission is given subject to the conditions indicated below.

• Original recommendation letter from the Head of the Institution is required.
• Industrial/Inplant training at the Generating Stations/Substations/TMR Divisions of KSEBL except at Moolamattom Power Station and Load Dispatch Centre, Kalamassery is limited to ITI/Polytechnic/M.Tech/Graduate Engineering students of 3rd year/final year (from 5th to 8th semester).
• The number of students in a batch is limited to maximum of 5 at a time in the Generating Stations/Substations and 10 in the TMR Divisions. Permission will be given only for one batch at a time at a particular station.
• Permission will be granted for a maximum of 5 working days only.
• Student should remit the fee as per the existing fee structure detailed below

• Granted permission for Industrial training for a minimum of 5 and maximum of 15 days on pro -rata basis subject to the availability of the stations.             
• The fee should be remitted in the cash section, O/o the Chief Engineer (HRM), Vydyuthi Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram, after obtaining permission from the Executive Engineer (HRD Cell).
• Permission letter will be given based on the availability of dates & current permissibility at each station. On satisfactory compliance of all the above, permission letter will be issued by the Executive Engineer, HRD Cell.
• The requested date for industrial training shall be within 45 days from the date of Application.
• Schedule once allotted will not be changed other than due to unavoidable circumstances and will be considered within the period of sanction only.
• No other facility of KSEBL shall be available for use by the students permitted for training in KSE Board.
• The students will be soley responsible for their safety during the training and shall abide by all the instructions, rules and procedures in force.

B. Project work at KSEBL .

Project work as part of the curriculum is being permitted to the students at KSEBL from various Educational Institutions subject to some conditions.
The Chief Engineer - HRM is the sanctioning authority for imparting Project in KSEBL and the permission is given subject to the conditions indicated below.

(a) Original letter from Head of the institution is required.
(b) Project topics should be relevant and related to KSE Board /. Permission shall be given at the Generating Stations/Substations/TMR Divisions/other offices of KSEBL (subject       to availability)except at Moolamattom Power Station and Load Dispatch Centre, Kalamassery and it shall be limited to Engineering College students.
(c) Project work/Organizational study will be allowed to the final year BBA/MBA students.
( d) The number of students shall be limited to a maximum of 5 in a batch.
(e) The students will be given permission for a maximum of 3 months only.
(f) Authorised officers and staff members of KSEBL will be
     permitted to guide the students, but restricted to guide only one batch at a time. Their role as guide will be without detriment to their normal official duties and functions.
(g) Consent letter from the officer who will be guiding the
     project work should be obtained.
(h) A fee of Rs.2000/- per student +applicable GST will be levied for the
project work. The required fee has to be remitted in the cash section of the Chief Engineer (HRM), Vydyuthi Bhavanam, Thiruvananthapuram.
(i) Requests for carrying out Project Work scheduled within a period of 3 months alone will be considered.
(j) Students shall produce their original ID cards whenever required.
(k) Students shall submit a copy of the project report to the HRD Cell for reference.
(l) The staff of KSEBL is exempted from remitting the required fee.

C.Apprenticeship training in KSEBL

Apprenticeship trainings is being given to the Degree/Diploma holders at KSEBL, paid apprenticeship and un paid apprenticeship.

Paid Apprenticeship

As per the Apprenticeship Act, 1961, rate of stipend payable to Graduate, Diploma and Technician (vocational) apprentices for one year training is detailed below.
(a) Graduate/Apprentices - Rs.4984/- per month
(b) Diploma Apprentices - Rs.3542/- per month
(c) Technician (Vocational) - Rs. 2758/- per month

(ITI/Certificate)Apprentices

Degree/Diploma holders shall obtain registration number from the Department of Technical Education, Supervisory Development Centre, NAD Road, Kalamassery. Those who have obtained registration number can participate in the walk-in-interview, scheduled by the Board of Apprenticeship, Chennai in co-ordination with Supervisory Development Centre, Kalamassery at various venues. (Notification will be published in the most circulated dailies).

Unpaid apprenticeship

Unpaid apprenticeship training is being given to the students for 6 months only. Chief Engineer (HRM) is the sanctioning authority. For joining as unpaid apprentice in KSEBL, the students should produce the following details
        a.Student’s request
        b. Attested copy of the Degree certificate/Provisional certificate
        c. Attested copy of photo identity card (Voters id, Driving license, SSLC, etc.)
Apart from the above, students should execute an Indemnity Bond on stamp paper worth Rs.200/- before the commencement of the training.

D. Industrial Visit

Students from educational institutions are allowed for one day industrial visit at Transmission Substations, Generating Stations and various Dams of KSEBL.

Procedures

1. Original letter from the head of the institution is required. Name of the students along with their age should be mentioned in the letter.

2. Two teachers should accompany the students.

3. Students, who wish to visit any substation, shall contact the concerned Transmission Deputy Chief Engineer for getting sanction and those who wish to visit TMR (Transformer Meter Repair) Division, shall contact the concerned Distribution Chief Engineer.

4. Students, who wish to visit any dam, shall contact the Chief Engineer (Dam Safety) for getting sanction and that of any power station (except Moolamattom Power Station), shall contact the Office of the Director (Generation & HRM) for getting sanction.

5. Nominal fee is required for one day industrial visit.
